A World Between Us
Being a mom to my autistic son has taught me that love has many forms. Sometimes it is silence, sometimes a look, and sometimes a touch that says more than a thousand words. This experience showed me that love doesn’t always show itself in ways that are easy to understand. It can be in holding hands when the world feels overwhelming or in a glance that says, “I’m here,” even when words fail. Each photo in my project tells the story of these moments of love. Moments when all barriers disappear, like when we touch noses and look into each other’s eyes. Moments of silence that are not empty but a shared language we both understand. Moments of touch, like our hands together, promising that no matter what, we will always be there for each other. These small moments have taught me that love is not about big words or gestures. It is about everyday life – sometimes hard, sometimes beautiful – where we build bridges between his world and mine. Being his mom has opened my eyes to see the world in a different way, full of details and beauty I never noticed before. Each photo is proof that love can cross any wall if we open our hearts to its many forms. This is a story of patience, acceptance, and closeness – a love that gives us strength to walk through life together, no matter the challenges. The photographs in this series were taken using an analog medium format Mamiya camera.
