The project explores communication and perception within a close relationship, focusing on visibility and absence. “Hide and Seek” is a project that subtly explores aspects of communication and perception within the relationship between a mother and a child on the autism spectrum. Using the game of hide and seek as a form of expression, the project reflects on visibility and invisibility, and how these states shape the way we perceive ourselves and others in the context of emotions and sensory experience. Combining photography and video, the work examines the boundaries of communication, not only verbal but also nonverbal, through images, space, and presence. It considers how social expectations of visibility and acceptance influence our understanding of ourselves, and how these mechanisms affect close relationships in the context of autism.
